Step over .com, more domain suffixes to come!

by Bryn Youngblut on July 1, 2008

OK perhaps the .com domains won’t get effected much but ICANN, a non-profit body that co-ordinates the naming system, plans to accept the first round of applications for new domain names in April or May next year. It expects the cost of registering a new suffix to be at least $100,000.

I’ve been trying to think of a cool domain name suffix but I can’t really think of much since I would just rather stick with .com since it’s so widely known and used. But hey maybe someone will come up with something good.

Even I have been trying to think of some domain name that is personal and yet cool and powerful, but have not thought up of anything till now. Anyways its going to be very expensive initially so might better stick with what we got right now.

Yeah I completely agree, I don’t think it will be a few years before we start seeing any new ones, besides the .me that is coming out.
