New Server – Again

by Bryn Youngblut on October 23, 2008

Just a quick update….So I moved again if some of you noticed some downtime today, to another new server. The one before was good but not exactly what I was looking for. First off it was on a Windows OS so I couldn’t use some plugins including super cache, which SUCKED. The second thing was it wasn’t the fastest server, I mean it does the job for a blog but it wasn’t what I wanted.

Anyways so I upgraded to a Dual-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 3040 @ 1.86GHz server from Hostgator (use coupon code SPOOKY for 20% off). The only reason I went with and like hostgator is because I have NEVER seen my site slow or down while hosting with them so I figured it was the safest bet. Anyways I’m happy (for now) and the blog seems to be loading MUCH faster.

Hostgator is really great in my opinion. I think everyone see’s them as the ideal for shared hosting but if they’re shared hosting is that great just think how good their dedicated is.

Interesting i am going to give it a try, but i wonder how hard its going to be transferring over 20 websites to a new hosting.

Actually it’s really easy you just give them your login for where your sites are hosted right now and they will transfer everything over flawlessly, and it’s really quick.

Do you have to have a whole server for your blog/ I am just starting out and using a regular hosting account but I wonder how long until you need a server ?

Yes, but I also make a decent amount of change that it isn’t a big deal to me to have a dedicated server for my blog alone.
