New Myspace Advertising Features

myspace

I just got this e-mail, although I knew about this stuff earlier. Perhaps this will encourage Facebook to take the initiative and bring out some more changes to their ad platform soon. *cough*

Anyways here’s the e-mail for anyone who didn’t get it.

Valued MyAds Advertiser,

We’re contacting you in order to announce four new exciting features for you to use immediately while advertising on MySpace!

Daily Budget

You can now tell us how much you’re willing to spend on a daily basis, and your ads will display as often as possible while staying within your daily budget. When your budget limit is reached, your ads will stop showing for that day.  Please note that there is a $5 per day minimum spending requirement with the introduction of this feature. This is intended to assist a campaign in remaining active and receiving impressions.

New Campaign Duration Option

In many cases, advertisers would like to have their ads run indefinitely. As such, we’ve added a new campaign setting option to MyAds. Advertisers now have the choice between setting a specific end date when their campaigns will stop running and selecting ‘no end date’ to have their campaign run indefinitely. Campaigns set to ‘no end date’ will run forever until the advertiser pauses the campaign, or give it a specific end date.  To better the chances of an ad performing to your expectations, however, we’ve implemented a minimum $5 per day spend on each campaign.  This is intended to help your ad receive impressions and remain active.  In conjunction with this feature, you will see that we have limited the duration of campaigns to one year.  This is intended to enhance the performance of the campaign.  In many instances, when a budget is spread out over too many days, the ad will not receive the desired amount of impressions.

Campaign Filtering

For advertisers running multiple campaigns, we’ve added the capability to filter based on status. For example, you’ll now be able to filter your account to reflect all ‘active’ campaigns for easy viewing. This will help you monitor progress more easily against your testing initiatives.

New Ad Templates

We’ve added over 90 new templates for your use! Finding the right creative design can be difficult, and we will continue to provide you with the templates needed to send the right message to potential customers.

whatup Bryn. how do you advertise on Myspace, you’re Canadian right? Prepaid CC? I gave up the first day when I couldn’t use my Canadian CC, and I hate missing out.

I just use my US Visa but my Canadian one never had a problem on there.

Was going to ask this exact question.

I have an American AMEX, but the problem is that I need an American Address.

How did you pull that off?

Thats good an all, but what about the .25 min click price? For many offers, you cant make it happen with that price floor?
IMHO once they address that, then they will have ALOT more adverts, et al..

While I do agree there are still a ton of people doing really well even with the higher click price, when it’s really not that high when you start to think about it and the fact that you can target US visitors very well by demographics.

I think they both have their differences, I obviously have a lot more experience with Facebook so I can’t really say but I know they do have some differences but for the most part they are similar, besides the advertisement sizes obviously.

Did they only send the email to certain users? I haven’t even begun to use it, so this is quite helpful, thanks Bryn. 🙂

Bryn,

I tried the fake address with my UK Visa card and it wasn’t having it, so I wrote to them and this is what I got back :

Hello,
Presently, the MySpace MyAds beta Service is available only in the U.S. You must provide a credit card issued by a U.S. bank and have a U.S. billing address to participate.
It is not known at this time when the service will be expanded outside of the United States. However, we are aware that there is world-wide interest, and we are working to create international options.
We apologize for any inconvenience. Please, do not respond if your issue has been resolved. Thank You for your participation in MySpace MyAds beta.

Then when I read that the people helping to set it up were the guys that migrated Overture to YSM that spoke volumes. No wonder they can’t make any money.

I wanted to target US users as well!!
