Networking Is The Most Important Thing In Affiliate Marketing

by Bryn Youngblut on February 10, 2009

Networking, you hear it all the time. The question is, do you actively network with like minded people?

I don’t want to make this a long and boring post because I’m sure you have all heard about the importance of networking but I just wanted to stress on it a bit. I can honestly say that some of the most profitable campaigns I have had were because of networking. Now, I wouldn’t say they were completely because of networking but if I had not had those people give me tips or help with certain aspects, the campaigns would not have been nearly as profitable. The bottom line is I feel networking is the most important thing you can do to advance yourself in this business (and most businesses really).

If you help people out, they will eventually return the favour.

Some main things I have done so far to network are:

  • Starting this blog
  • Talking with people over Instant messaging/skype
  • Interacting on forums (mostly wickedfire.com)
  • Attending Affiliate Summit
  • Starting/Organizing the  Toronto meetup202 monthly event
  • Meeting up with like minded people
  • Getting involved anywhere else I can

As you can see there are many ways to network with people and the few I listed are only a few of the many ways you could be networking.

If you are not already actively networking I highly suggest doing so, it can only bring your business to new heights.

Agreed. Networking and a no pre-set limit credit card is all you need.

Seriously. Networking is huge. I can’t stress this enough for marketers that are starting out. I tell people to find a buddy or two that they can grow with. Talk to people in the same mindset.

…And go to Meetup202 events if they’re in your area!!

I agree with you about building a network. However, I beg to disagree about wickedfire forum. I signed up to them but got upset when some members use foul language, and explicit photos on threads. Afterward, I did not come back to them again.

I think a better forum would be Warrior forum as it is really being dedicated to Internet marketers, and it is a clean one.

But then of course, there are many ways to build a network. But I do believe that one should build a good reputation first.

Thanks!

Good post, bud. I was so motivated after last Toronto Meetup that I launched 25 campaigns within a week and had my first day where I made $100+ in profit. So networking is golden. I recommend you read “Never Eat Alone” if you haven’t read it before. Great book on networking.

Will see you at the 2nd affiliate meetup in T.

Out of all the networking methods above, I prefer MSN the most. Basically because it gives conversations a more “personal” feel and you get to know the other guy/girl much better.

This is so true. Affiliate marketing has gotten a ton easier for me once I’ve started networking with more people. I’ve learned a lot and met some cool people. Plus it is cool to have a connection with people while I am home all day working behind a computer.
