Using Social Proof To Increase Conversion Rates

by Bryn Youngblut on August 17, 2011

I have seen very good results by simply adding a Facebook “Like” button on my landing pages. Put it somewhere below but close to where you want the visitor to interact, your email submit, click here button, etc.

Of course you’re going to want some “likes” to begin with so it doesn’t hurt to purchase a few hundred to get it rolling, then it can naturally grow from there.

Some tests I have done showed the like button almost doubled the conversion rate which is pretty huge for something so simple.

Time to add a Google +1 into the mix?

I use this technique and it works well especially when the like is directed to my page 😉

Great idea!

I know for a fact the Google+ button works great, because I have been doing this for a few weeks now but only with Google+ as the pages I have it on have more Google interaction then Facebook (found by split-testing a facebook app and google widget with an avg of 50k uniques over 6 months with ref traffic) .

You only post a few times a year, but when you do they are gems!

Are you going to ASW ?

Another great way to add social proof is putting logos of trusted companies. If the offer you’re promoting has ever been mentioned in Wall Street Journal or the like, you can put their logo on your landing page.
