Ever searched for something to only find out you need to register an account or pay for a membership to view the page? I usually come across this if I land on a forum that requires people to be logged in to view it.
Well screw that, why don’t we just pretend to be a Google bot and walk right down the red carpet? Sounds like a good idea to me.
It’s pretty easy to get going just follow these easy steps.
Firefox users:
Download this plugin and then import this file (right click and save it) which has a list of user agent settings with many spiders and bots.
Internet Explorer users:
Copy this line:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEYLOCALMACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings5.0User Agent] @=”Googlebot/2.1″ “Compatible”=”+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html”
Now paste it in a new notepad file and save it as “ua.reg”. Now find where you saved the file and double click on it to send it to the registry.
To change back, do the same thing but use this line:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEYLOCALMACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings5.0User Agent] @=”Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)”
But this time save it as “oua.reg”, save and double click it.
That’s it, have fun!

Ha ha ha ha… Nice idea to peep into the blogs that require registration. One more doubt- Shall we post in the forum? (lol)

I’m not sure if it lets you post as Google bot but you can definitely view everything.
