]]>Above, the author calls “Pop-under” advertising as well as “Pop-over” advertising “Ad ware” (as opposed to ‘malware’ or ‘spyware’) but we’ve always considered these techniques to be “How to Tell if Your Web Site Sucks.”
Because the web industry prostituted itself by bottom-feeding the ad industry to PPC and PPP standards they’ve become a stab in the back for the publisher.
We have taken a different approach. It’s more honorable, and with sufficient traffic and valid content, it can be more profitable — and that’s “Advertising”.
Yes, in the truest sense of the term, that’s pay for ad space and the publisher delivers X number of viewers or subscribers. Simple, eh? Under this system, the publisher can be successful, and the advertiser can be successful. It’s been proven for more than 200 years.
Take for instance the Wall-Street Journal. You pay for your ad, and their entire readership sees it. Consider the Super Bowl game. You pay your $3-million and your ad is seen by dozens of millions.
Can you imagine how stupid it would be if the WSJ or Super Bowl sold their advertising on a “pay per click” or “Pay per sale” basis? Well, obviously there would be NO WSJ or Super Bowl game.
We are one of the few web sites returning to this integrity model. We were tired of sending hundreds of thousands of views and clicks to advertisers for pocket change.
If you think your content and page space has some value, then you might drop the Affiliate myth and PPC myth and adopt the ‘real’ “pay per view” or “per pair of eyes” advertising model and start getting paid what you are worth in stead of prostituting your efforts for a few pieces of change.
’nuff said
