It’s a giant scam.
You pay ridiculous prices for complete crap. The amount of money that is made from one day is fucking ridiculous.
Sure, our kids have fun getting tons of free candy and enjoy dressing up like their favorite super hero or something they wish they were.
But where do we draw the line? How many millions of dollars have to be wasted on garbage (candy) and junk plastic costumes that are worn for half a day at best, then stuffed in storage to be forgotten about.
I wonder if we used all the wasted money on Halloween for a good purpose how much better off we could be.
What if instead of spending $50 on a costume and or another $50 on candy we used that money to better ourselves. Donate to charity, save an animal, help the homeless, etc.
I’m not trying to preach or be a tree huger, but honestly, I don’t think anyone can right out tell me that Halloween is really necessary.
Although…It sure is a great excuse for girls to dress like complete sluts and get away with it.

But how do you feel about affiliate marketing for Haloween? Is there sick money to be made selling costumes online.

The thing is that Halloween is more of a time of celebration. Sure, it may not seem like it has any purpose or anything or have any idea behind it from my point-of-view but its a holiday none-the-less.
Valentine’s Day celebrates love.
Christmas celebrates Jesus birthday.
Thanksgiving celebrates giving thanks.
Fourth of July celebrates Independence Day.
Halloween celebrates having fun.
Might sound like a useless celebration, but none-the-less, your celebrating something. Just my point of view. Plus, its the only time candy sales get a boost.
Can you say affiliate profits for the candy industry? 😀

Ah man I love Halloween. It’s one day to escape from reality and be someone/something else, and sometimes an excuse for a killer party. I also love watching the Slasher films I’ve seen 10+ times already.

I don’t mind it, still think it’s stupid but at least most of the stuff purchased is things people will use or want.

Nah dude.. Halloween is the coolest holiday of them all. Its Better then Christmas, Valentines Day, Father’s Day, Groundhog day, Mother’s day and black history month combined.

I think your last sentence is the only reason I tolerate the holiday. Of course, I have no kids so maybe when I do my view might change.

This comment was not made by me. It’s some D-bah who is going around using my info. I would never say something like that.

I dont mind the girls dressing up like sluts part 😡

The best part of halloween is seeing people be creative with homemade costumes. y top costume as an affiliate marketer would be to go as an Adsense Check.

Well, your last point about girls and Halloween should be a good enough reason to like it lol… but I agree, its a pointless holiday. Personally, I think its like Valentine’s Day when guys have to spend all that money as a excuse to show their significant other you love them.
What about the other 364 days of the year?!

Bryn turned into a zombie on Haloween after writing this. You will never hear from him again, except at http://www.bryn.zombie

Bryn, I couldn’t agree more with you. I hate the event and couldn’t help blogging about it myself last week. In the UK we don’t even know how to celebrate it. I’m all for changing it or dropping it from the calendar. I was hoping we could trade Halloween with you guys (US), but now it seems you don’t want it either.
Maybe we could re-package it and sell it to the Chinese?
