The post If I Owned An Ad Network first appeared on Bryn Youngblut.
]]>I am sure everyone has their own gripes about ad networks they use and I figured I would share some of mine.
Mind you these range over a ton of ad networks and apply to none specifically.
I haven’t even broke the surface on this…more to come.
Feel free to include your gripes in the comments below, perhaps we can make a list for new ad networks to look at before opening shop.

]]>The following is a guest post by Robert Tuchman, the author of Young Guns: The Fearless Entrepreneur’s Guide to Chasing Your Dreams and Breaking Out on Your Own.
We stand now with the tide of hard times lapping at our feet, and of soft, comfortable times slowly being drawn out to sea. With the soft times going and the hard ones coming, we must alter the way we live in order to persevere.
One thing you can do to brace yourself is to go back to your suppliers—to your telephone provider, landlord, car dealer—and renegotiate. Go to the people you are paying out to, and renegotiate on the contracts you had made with them. See if they are willing to pull back at all. Although they are dealing with the same slow-down as you are, you will find that they are more willing to cut you some slack than lose you as a customer.
I cannot stress enough the need for products you are selling to be presented in more detail. You must make the clients understand your philosophy and your product. Market better! Understand where people are coming from: be compassionate with their concerns. Be willing to work out payment plans for potential clients.
With today’s adversity constant pulling on your being, implore as much persistence and fortitude as you can muster. When you are stuck and everything is working against you, when it seems like you cannot last a second longer, you must persist, for it is at that peak in struggle that you will conquer and turn the tides.

]]>A guest post by Dennis Yu, CEO of BlitzLocal, providing local lead gen for professional service firms.
By now, you’ve probably read about the Shoemoney vs. uptight hotel employee incident. Silly story, but what could you do to protect yourself when you’ve made enemies, whether deserved or not?
Buy your own name: And not just the dot.com variation, but the dot.net, plus with dashes (your-name.com) as well as yournamesucks.com. No need to go too crazy with buying a bunch of domains. This is just a placeholder to protect yourself against folks who might buy your name later to get the benefit of exact match. Google gives you a bump if the search query exactly matches the domain name.
domains.
Don’t piss off other people: Most people are reasonable, but if you agitate them enough, they may seem to destroy you. Better to avoid getting in these situations in the first place.If you’ve committed a major crime or done something egregious to get written up in a major publication, these tips will only partially help you. But better to have these things already in place should a PR crisis hit– think of it like insurance– as opposed to having to scramble at the last minute. If these tips don’t quite do it for you, ping me at dennis@blitzlocal.com and I can give you some help.
This area is called Search Engine Reputation Management— a field that is becoming increasingly important. Why? The web provides a permanent record of what you do. Whether or not you choose to respond to it, people are still talking about you. So you can choose to participate in that conversation and hopefully, shape it positively. If you are a company, you should have a company policy to buy the names of all new employees as an insurance policy to protect them as well as your company. Then stick wordpress on it.

]]>Looks like since my last post a few people have started to take the contest more seriously and run some offers, but seriously guys it’s a FREE Flight and Pass to Affiliate Summit East…I looked at the stats so far and I personally ran more with Tattoo Media in the last 2 days than the top person has in the last 2 months, not to say they didnt do a decent amount, but it’s not that hard to win this contest. The Tattoo guys are honestly really great and willing to help you out with anything, whether it be modifying offers for compliancy or even personalizing things for you if you’re serious about doing some damage.
It’s still anyones game at this point. I will announce the winner (if they want) on August 1.

]]>The post Prosper202 Help: The table ‘202_clicks_spy’ is full first appeared on Bryn Youngblut.
]]>If you use prosper202 and use it a lot you have most likely seen this error, if not, you’re either lucky or don’t have a ton of traffic.
I use to get this error all the time because the table would get full before it had time to whipe the stuff older than 24 hours.
So how can you fix this?
The quick fix is to reboot your MySql service. This will fix it right away, don’t worry all your click data is still stored!
How to prevent this from happening again?
There is 2 options I know of to prevent this from happening in the future, the first is to increase your Post_Max_Size to as high as you can.
If your table is still filling up too quickly you can set it up to clear out every hour instead of every day.
Goto /202-cronjobs/index.php
Goto line 95 and add this
/* ——– THIS CLEARS OUT THE CLICK SPY MEMORY TABLE ——— *///this function runs everyday at midnight to clear out the temp clicks_memory table $from = time() – 86400;
//this makes it so we only have the most recent last 24 hour stuff, anything older, kill it.
//we want to keep our SPY TABLE, low
$click_sql = “DELETE FROM 202_clicks_spy WHERE click_time < $from”;
$click_result = _mysql_query($click_sql);
//$click_count = mysql_affected_rows();
So it’ll be right after the
if ($check_count == 0 ) {
add that line of code, TEST TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS,
that should clear out your spy every hour, instead of the default, every-day! lets see if that fixes it for you.
Credits to Wes for the second fix which was found in the thread here.

]]>The post Locked Out Of Prosper202? first appeared on Bryn Youngblut.
]]>This might be a good post to bookmark for the future.
I was recently locked out of my own Prosper202 install because I changed my password the night before and like an idiot forgot what I changed it to. To top it off the “Forgot Password” retrieval form was not sending me any emails to reset my password. So what can you do?
After searching around like a mad man and not finding any answers anywhere I finally contacted one of my buddies who I knew was good with servers and MySQL.
Here’s a quick way to reset your prosper202 password:
1) login to phpmyadmin
2) run this SQL statement
UPDATE 202_users SET user_pass=’
4328e939cf4c6ef00b7d5617dc173544′ WHERE
user_id=’1′3) you can now login with your username and password as ‘temptemp’
4) change your password upon logging in

]]>I came across this a couple weeks ago at the wickedfire forums and have been using it ever since. It’s a script for firefox and runs using the greasemonkey addon.

I really love the simplicity of it and maybe once Facebook see’s this they can use it as ideas to improve their platform in the future. As far as I know it’s not against their terms of service since it’s a user end modification, but I could be wrong.
Click here for instructions and to get the script.

A little trick I like to do to get volume as fast as possible is to simply raise your daily budget to the max, which happens to be $100,000. Facebooks ad platform is pretty stupid to even allow you to do this since your daily limit is most likely not anywhere near that. You won’t go over your accounts daily limit anyways so don’t worry. To be honest most of my campaigns are set at this but for other people if your testing a new campaign this is a quick way to get faster results. Just make sure you monitor it very closely so you don’t blow your money before you even know what happened.
