Beware Of Phishing On Twitter

by Bryn Youngblut on January 4, 2009

I just got this direct message from what looks to be someones account that got hacked (most likely from this same website that tried to phish for my twitter information).

CLICK THE LINK AT YOUR OWN RISK – IT REDIRECTS TO A PHISHING WEBSITE

hey look at this funny blog http://rosalierebyb.blogspot.com/

Always be weary of links you click/visit, especially if they ask for personal information, and report them to twitter.

Edit: Looks like Twitter posted some more information about it on their blog:

The people that do this crap are pathetic. Not sure how they sleep at night.

There is now a warning right on twitter as well as the blog. I still don’t understand what they expect to “phish” from a simple twitter account.

I got a bunch of those messages the other day. I usually won’t click links unless they’re from I know and trust. Go figure, wherever people congregat, there are always going to be scammers and spammers lurking around 🙁

I guess that someone always has to try and throw a wrench into things.
